About Pentooling:
Dale's interest in fountain pens began as a child when he found pens of his great grandparents in his multi-generational home in Lorain, Ohio. His interest and hobby in collect fountain pens grew as an adult. Now located in California, Dale met Glenn Christensen at the Write Shop. Christensen began to show Dale how to restore these old timey family pens. As an adult, Dale enjoyed visiting brick and mortar Fountain Pen Shops as well as searching though flea markets
and garage sales for unique pens, often bringing his daughter Peggy along for the adventure.
As an engineer, Dale's attention to detail and understanding of machining lead him to begin designing and manufacturing tools for his pen collecting and repair hobby. Sometimes, he builds a tool from scratch, creating the drawings and designs himself. Dale acts on ideas that come to him while working on pens. He then creates a tool to make that job easier and safer for the pen. It frequently takes up to 3 years from inception to stock at Pentooling. Other times, Dale redesigns tools found in old pen factory repair kits. And sometimes, Dale collaborates with other Pengineers to create a new tool. All our tools are thoroughly tested at Pentooling headquarters, as well as given to other Pen Experts for testing. They meet the highest standards, as Dale wouldn't produce anything less.
In 1994 Dale's collection of pen items had grown so large, he started his own pen company, Pentooling. He participated in his first Pen Show in Los Angeles this year, eventually expanding to multiple shows across the country. With a bit of help, Dale launched Pentooling.com, making his tools, parts and supplies available to penthusiests around the world.
As Pentooling grew, Dale's daughter Peggy joined the business in 2021. Currently Pentooling does most of our business online. We are located in California's central coast. But if you want to meet us in person, you can always find us at the California (Los Angeles) and San
Francisco Pen Shows.
