Smooth action and smooth push rod tip make the job easy with this tool.

Insert the nib/feed assembly nib down in the barrel with the tip of the feed under the push rod and the back of the nib up against the shoulder in the barrel. Next, push the feed back and off of the nib by pushing the brass knob on the back end of the tool. The nib can easily be put back on the feed with your fingers.
