VERY EARLY US BRAND PENCIL SHARPENER. No spiral cutting cylinders here; this machine has 3 knife type blades that slice wood off the pencil point while cutting in the same direction as the axis of the pencil runs. Just like you would while sharpening a pencil with a pocket knife. The blades rotate and the pencil rotates while the handle is turned. A beautiful Rube Goldberg device that made it into production.
