These are not hard rubber; they appear to be real rosewood. Gold filled trim. The diameters of the pens that would fit in the sockets is 0.434" and the diameters of the cylinders on the sockets that go into the base is also 0.434". The sockets would be secured in the base with included screws and washers. Beautiful pieces.
