Features approximately 1/2 oz. of solid 14K gold with a richly hand engraved floral pattern topped with 5 rubies @ 1/2 Kt total plus a .02 Kt diamond. Medium Warranted 14K nib. Lever filled. No nicks, dents, dings or other observed flaws. Besides being quite rare, this is a very puzzling configuration; Two double sided signs riveted together with each 'borrowing' about 2 inches of the back of its mate, having that part of itself missing. I can't figure how this got this way, but it is a really neat bit of advertising by Grinell sign & poster Co. NY.

You could take these apart nand have 2 double sided signs, but they would each be missing the right 2 inches.

ITEM #5268: NARDI 3 COLOR RETRACTABLE PENCIL. Black celluloid with gold fiilled trim. Mechanism works, and it is retractable. It's like a cap actuated mechanism when sending the leads out and it has a button on the top of the clip to retract the leads. The pencil gets longer when the leads are retracted and gets smaller when the leads are out. The first two photos show that difference. This pencil uses 0.065" dia. leads and has (3) black ones in it, as there are no more color 0.065" leads available. This is a large pencil, 6 1/2" when extended.

The writing color is gravity selected - you hold the pen horizontally, with the color small dot matching the ballpoint filler ink color you want facing up while you push the cap (this one is cap actuated). The ink colors selectable are red, black, blue, and green. Refills are still available. Besides "SHREVE GERMANY" the clip als has what looks like a hallmark, an oval with the letters "EB" inside. ITEM #4424: ANOTHER STYLOGRAPHIC; A WRCO DIPPER DRAWING PEN WITH A RESERVOIR. The valve action here is brought about by pulling and pushing a button on the back that is connected to a tapered shaft whose thinnest end is the stylus inside the tube at the tip. I've written with this pen using writing ink and it worked great, but I'm fairly certain that it was intended for use with thicker, lumpier India ink.

This is the first lever filling Vacuum Fil I've run across; I've always assumed from the name that they were all plunger fillers - that's not the case. This one has demonstrated a .9 cc capacity. It measures 4 3/4" long X .471" dia.

ITEM #5495: BISMARCK 175 PARKER 61 LOOK ALIKE. An interesting, well
made pen with a copy of a Parker Robot Aerometric filling system, except the press bar and sac protector screw out easily from the section. Fine/Medium nib (right on the border between Medium and Fine on a Parker factory nib grader).The shell of this pen has some Chinese text on it commemorating a presentation to a doctor who successfully cured the donor. This printing could probably be removed fairly easily if desired. The lined cap and barrel appear to be gold plated, but near the cap lip it says "14K". I'm skeptical.

ITEM #3823: CHILTON PEARL & BLACK BOSTON MADE DOUBLE BANDED PNEUMATIC FILLING SYSTEM FOUNTAIN PEN. Rarely coming up for sale, this particular example has the earlier "L" shaped clip and has no known model number. This pen fills by pulling back the barrel, placing your finger over an open hole in the end of the barrel, and pushing down on the barrel then taking your finger off the hole while the nib is immersed in ink. Chilton called this the "Pneumatic Filling System". It works similar to the Sheaffer Touchdown, but is much more sturdily built with fewer parts and a much longer lasting waxed string seal (no O-ring). An incredibly well working dessign. Very good color with slight darkening on both ends of the pen. These are RARELY found without serious discoloration. This is minor, as can be seen in the photos. Otherwise near mint condition. See the photos. 5 1/16" long with cap screwed-on and diameter at cap band = .536". Has crisp, healthy "CHILTON PEN BOSTON, MASS USA PAT. 3-3-25 4-6-25" imprint with no personalized initials or other engraving.

ITEM #4309:LODI L31 ELECTRIC MARKING PENCIL, ca 1954. Here's an early version of an engraver that uses a tiny electric arc to leave its mark in the surface of metal. It uses a 6 volt AC transformer (not inclided). This was first sold in 1954, as verified by the receipt that is still with it. It was sold by a SNAP-ON tools hawker. It also has an instruction sheet. This was manufactured in Lodi, California. If you're not interested in antique engravers, this DOES consist of a few monster hunks fo black hard rubber tubing to turn-out pen parts from. The cap is .625" outer dia. x 2.37" long with about a .5" inner dia. The barrel is .5" outer dia. and about 3.7" long with a .373" inner dia.

ITEM #3986: UNKNOWN BLACK HARD RUBBER FOUNTAIN PEN WITH RARE DUAL ACTION LEVER. You pull the lever out, like most levers, but to actuate it, you need to push it in, perpendicularly to the barrel. The lever is made from solid metal, rather than formed and folded thin metal. Pen is 5" long, .496" diameter with "14K" nib. This pen has been shown to draw in .7 cc of ink.

I can't find a way to get the spiral amber transparent window in the barrel to show up in the photos, but it is very clean & clear, just with an amber tinge.

ITEM #3823: CHILTON PEARL & BLACK BOSTON MADE DOUBLE BANDED PNEUMATIC FILLING SYSTEM FOUNTAIN PEN. Rarely coming up for sale, this particular example has the earlier "L" shaped clip and has no known model number. This pen fills by pulling back the barrel, placing your finger over an open hole in the end of the barrel, and pushing down on the barrel then taking your finger off the hole while the nib is immersed in ink. Chilton called this the "Pneumatic Filling System". It works similar to the Sheaffer Touchdown, but is much more sturdily built with fewer parts and a much longer lasting waxed string seal (no O-ring). An incredibly well working dessign. Very good color with slight darkening on both ends of the pen. These are RARELY found without serious discoloration. This is minor, as can be seen in the photos. Otherwise near mint condition. See the photos. 5 1/16" long with cap screwed-on and diameter at cap band = .536". Has crisp, healthy "CHILTON PEN BOSTON, MASS USA PAT. 3-3-25 4-6-25" imprint with no personalized initials or other engraving.
