Pocket/Desk Items that Aren't Pens

Here are some cool old things that won't all fit in pocket, but they DO go along with the pocket or desk environment.

As far as the pocket knives go, I don't have any Schrades here, but I don't believe Schrade ever had colors like these, either. I started out having my eye caught by some of the same celluloid patterns on knives that Sheaffer used on pens and I went on from there.

ITEM #BATES STPLR: BATES MODEL 'B' SPOOL-FED STAPLER. Uses a spool of fine brass wire to make and plant staples . It's stamped with an unclear date that may be Jul 27, 1936. It works and has a pair of tweezers stowed in the bottom, apparently for stringing the brass wire. This is another contraption that would make Rube Goldberg envious. Overall, it's in very fine condition. It's painted in olive drab, so this may have been government equipment.

ITEM #2635: VERY EARLY US BRAND PENCIL SHARPENER. No spiral cutting cylinders here; this machine has 3 knife type blades that slice wood off the pencil point while cutting in the same direction as the axis of the pencil runs. Just like you would while sharpening a pencil with a pocket knife. The blades rotate and the pencil rotates while the handle is turned. A beautiful Rube Goldberg device that made it into production.

ITEM #4302: WEINHAGEN & HESPE THERMOMETER CASE WITH THE BETTER PART OF THE ORIGINAL THERMOMETER. This case is made from a mottled material that is orange, brown, & tan. It passes the Simichrome Bakelite test and seems to be molded. The bulb on the thermometer was broken so there is no mercury left inside and that end has been dipped in red plastic so it still looks intact for display purposes.
