Grading: Some are on the border of Medium and Broad while some are very Fine. Check their listings.

As to your flexibility preference, everyone writes at different angles of roll, pitch, and yaw and everone uses slightly different pressure when writing. So one person may be very pleased with a given nib and the person next to them may not be comfortable with the same pen/nib.

These nibs are delicate instruments and are thus very fragile; if you are not accustomed to using very flexible nibs, you should be warned that these are very easy to damage and cannot be returned if you damage the tines. You might want to try flexible pens out in person at a pen show to assure your satisfaction with your choice. But as can be seen in the writing samples above, it is quite possible to have a good match with a flexible pen before trying it out in person; the person that made those samples bought them off of this web site without trying them out first.

ITEM #3631:  CONKLIN GOLD FILLED RINGTOP FILIGREE CRESCENT FILLER. 4 1/2" Long, .467" diameter at cap lip. MEDIUM flexible nib. The Crescent Filler protruding from the side of the barrel is engraved on both sides, indicating a post 1920 date. This pen has demonstrated the capability to take in .6 cc of ink. The cartouche is inscribed with the initials "D. D. M. B." in nicely done script.

ITEM #5317: WATERMAN’s 0552 WITH GOLD FILLED GOTHIC OVERLAY ON BLACK HARD RUBBER.   Lever filling with "18K FILLED" printed on top of clip, dating this piece to earlier production. Overlay is nice and crisp with NO BRASSING OR DENTS. No brassing on clip ball, either. NO MONOGRAMS OR PERSONALIZATION on overlays. The dome on the cap is perfectly smooth and round, with no hammering around the circumference. BHR color is dark, shiny black and uniform, with no change in shades where the cap overlaps the barrel. This piece also has the "IDEAL' baseball stamped extra piece at the top of the lever slot under the baseball on the top of the lever. The BROAD No. 2 Reg. U.S. PAT. OFF. nib is a classic very FLEXIBLE early Waterman No. 2. Not quite a 'Wet Noodle', but getting there. The barrel end number is still there, although it's not 'crisp'. With all of the above, it's an early 20th century eye-catcher. This is what you look for in a classic vintage pen. Downright photogenic, to boot.

ITEM #5640: WATERMAN 52 IN BLACK HARD RUBBER WITH FLEX MEDIUM/FINE NIB.  The nib grade is right on the boundary between Fine and Medium on a Parker factory nib grader. Crisp imprint with weak chasing on the barrel. The cap has no clip and it never did, even though it has 2 small, very clean holes where one could be riveted, but they are much smaller than they would be if they had ever had rivets going through them. Also, there is no flat spot wear from the top of a riveted-on clip. This is shown in the last photo below. Nickel plating on the box is in excellent shape.
